Geogebra

Lesson 1
Introduction to Geo Gebra

Geo Gebra is a dynamic mathematics software that joins geometry, algebra and calculus. It is developed for learning and teaching mathematics in schools by Markus Hohenwarter and an international team of programmers.

This  software is used for constructing geometric objects such as points, vectors, segments, lines, polygons, conic sections, and functions that can be changed dynamically. These objects can be entered and modified directly on screen or through the command line. Geogebra has the ability to use variables for numbers, vectors and points and find the derivatives and integrals of functions.

GeoGebra's  latest version can be downloaded from www.geogebra.org. All versions need a Java Virtual Machine that can be downloaded from www.java.com. If you want to get the latest and complete installation package (includes Java), download GeoGebra Webstart otherwise you also need to download and install Java separately.
To install GeoGebra Webstart , Open the Internet browser and go to www.geogebra.org/webstart.  Click on the button called GeoGebra Webstart.  The software is automatically installed in our Computer.  We need to confirm all messages that might appear with OK or YES.

(OR.    Install Ubuntu 9.10 or Ubuntu 10.04 customized by IT @ School or I T @ School Linux 3.2 and Edusoft CD )

The Geo Gebra window is shown in figure given below.
The main parts of the Geo Gebra window
1.  Title Bar
2.  Menu Bar
3.  Tool Bar
4.  Algebraic View
5.  Graphic View - Drawing Pad
6.  Input Bar
7.  Spreadsheet View

The leftmost pane is the algebra window, where algebraic descriptions of objects on the drawing pad are displayed.  The drawing pad is where you can do your drawing and constructions.
.

The coordinate axes, the algebra window and the input field can be displayed or hidden using the View menu.
